Optimistic for 12WZC
"Where will you be a year from today?” enquired a teaser issued by the organizing committee of the 12th World Zoroastrian Congress (12WZC) on July 1, 2021. The indirect reminder for the 12WZC scheduled from July 1 to 4, 2022 at the New York Hilton Midtown in the heart of Manhattan was an indicator that the co-hosts, the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America and the Zoroastrian Association of Greater New York, are proceeding with their preparations.
"A year is a long time and with all that has happened in the past year and more we are optimistic that the coming year will be one of more positive improvements in all our lives,” added the email with a link to their FAQ (frequently asked questions) that offered "some answers” to those with apprehensions. "The planning committee is dedicated to preserving the health and well-being of all its participants, organizers and volunteers. We are, and will continue to follow all federal, state and local guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These will be updated on a regular basis on our website as changes are instituted,” assured the organizing team.
While the rates have yet to be finalized, they hope to commence registrations "sometime in the last quarter of 2021.” The registration charge will cover all regular Congress sessions, starting 8.30 am on Friday, July 1 and ending at noon on Monday July 4, as also coffee/tea during the scheduled breaks, three lunches on the first three days, performance by the World Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra (to be decided) and the gala dinner banquet on the third night. Even infants under four years have to be registered for the Congress at Infant Registration Rates. Infants may avail of a babysitting service during regular sessions which they will not be allowed to attend but can join in at lunches, dinners, opening and closing ceremonies, gala banquet and entertainment when accompanied by a parent.
Children aged five to nine may avail of the Kids Club, a program tailored to introduce attendees to the Zoroastrian religion through age appropriate educational, interactive, fun and friendship fostering programs. Those aged 10-13 years may avail of the Tween Track which will include educational activities suitable to them under the supervision of those with experience in running children’s classes.
Attendees are advised to book Hotel rooms after they register for the Congress. A special rate has been negotiated with the Hotel for Congress participants and will be applicable from three days prior to three days after the Congress. The Hotel is to be booked on a per night basis, the tariffs for which are yet to be announced.
