“Saro saparmo divas…”
I found Berjis Desai’s piece "Saro saparmo divas (auspicious day) has evolved” (Parsiana, November 7, 2016) interesting.
He states that "the first navjotes began to be celebrated at the Ballroom of the Taj Mahal Hotel” in the 1970s. This is incorrect. My sister, Pearly Nariman Dhalla, had her navjote performed at the Taj Mahal Hotel in 1948.
Desai writes that by the 1970s Goody Seervai and Nellie and her Band were gone. In fact, we had engaged her for music on our wedding day in October 1979. ZARIN GREEN
