Hat trick by the Shroffs
At the 34th annual meeting of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) 2016 held in San Francisco in August, Delhi’s Shroff Eye Centre registered a triple win, notes an email received from the Centre. Dr Cyrus Shroff’s film, Subretinal Cysticercus Removal — the exquisite original and the explosive sequel, which depicts two intricate techniques for removal of parasites beneath the retina, received an award. The film festival award went to his nephew Dr Daraius Shroff for The Agony and the Ecstasy, a movie which showed a grueling four-hour surgery to attach a detached retina and restore the vision of a 17-year-old boy who had been hit in the eye. Daraius also earned an honor award for his contribution to the Society’s scientific and education program.
The email also mentions that Shroff Eye Centre has been ranked number one for ophthalmology in north India and Delhi National Capital Region and number seven nationally by The Times of India Hospital and Clinic Survey 2016. The Reader’s Digest (RD) special supplement of September 2016 reports that the Centre was voted by users as one of the "Trusted Hospitals 2016 Winners.” It has been recognized by the World Consulting and Research Corporation in association with reputed market research "IBRANDS-360” as one of "India’s most trusted healthcare brand — 2016.”
