“Gall in the family”

Berjis Desai’s column "Gall in the family” (Bawa Musings, Parsiana, December 7, 2015) was perspicacious, like his other ones. He utters gospel truth when he writes "Parsis fight their relatives… more than the members of other communities.”
In my official capacity I have visited firms of leading solicitors and chartered accountants where I found a preponderance of Parsis, a "microscopic” community. Initially, in the 1960s, I thought they were there for conveyancing and testamentary affairs. I was curious. I learnt thereafter that they were bitter litigants and often feuding frivolously.
We have forgotten the innate message of Jasame Avange Mazda, which we pray every time that we say our kusti prayers. "My words fly up, my thoughts remain below;/ Words without thoughts, never to heaven go.” B. T. DASTUR
