Resolve the imbroglio
It is a sad commentary that our 100 percent literate, forward looking/liberal [other than World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarthoshtis (WAPIZ)/Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP)] community is suffering from schisms and making ourselves a laughing stock before other communities.
Let me cite a few unsavory episodes:
The two oldest trusts of Bombay are in court over tenancy issues. One trust has been a tenant to the other for 120 years! Can’t they resolve the issue out of court?
Some Parsi anjumans/associations in India and abroad have been carrying on "internecine warfare” for years. A few have patched up while others still fight like Zulu tribals!
The BPP’s board has always been partisan, but never fractured as now. What a terrible example it sets as an apex body to its constituent units and to the community internationally, while preaching amity and unity! It is a house divided against itself, merrily frittering away its monetary resources. Whose money is it, anyway?
As chairman, Dinshaw Mehta has a moral responsibility to resolve this imbroglio and avoid litigation.
