The last few names of those deceased in end November 2015 find mention here as well as those who passed away till December 13.
An alarming divide was noticeable in the birth (two) and death (60) figures for November 2015.
Heart related diseases felled 15 patients, 10 of whom were over 80 years. The other major killers were cancer (11) and pneumonia/lung disease (eight). While four Zoroastrians succumbed to old age/general debility, three each perished due to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and brain disease and two each to kidney failure, diabetes, cachexia (a state of constitutional disorder, malnutrition and general ill health) and septicemia. Isolated causes of deaths were attributed to multi organ failure, hypertension, hypoproteinmia (deficient protein in the blood plasma), liver disease, osteoarthritis, paraplegia (paralysis of the lower limbs) and cough. The coroner’s report was kept pending in the case of one death. The youngest and eldest to die were females, at 39 and 95 years respectively. The mean age at death of Zoroastrians for November 2015 in Bombay was 80 years.
The data on births, marriages and deaths has been compiled from information supplied by various newsletters and anjumans in India and abroad, courts and hospitals. This information is not always complete or consistent: we are unable to carry data from areas where the anjumans do not furnish the particulars; the birth figures for Bombay are supplied by one hospital — births in suburban hospitals and private nursing homes are not included unless individuals send us information together with a copy of the birth certificate. There may be an inadvertent repetition of names in the marriage list when a civil marriage precedes a religious ceremony. In the break-up of deaths according to illnesses, especially of the elderly, death is often due to a combination of several diseases.
