“Lapse of protocol?”

By Sherene Vakil · December 7, 2015
Among the charges and counter charges pertaining to the meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) officials with the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) trustees on November 3, 2015, BPP trustee Armaity Tirandaz was categorical that the politicians did not come "unannounced” as alleged by some of her co-trustees.

"I am surprised that I was not informed of the meeting… a simple phone call from any of the trustees present during the whole time would have gone a long way. This is a lapse of protocol. I have no idea of what might have been discussed before my arrival.” Tirandaz stated she had turned up earlier to sign some papers when she found four of her co-trustees — BPP chairman Yazdi Desai, Noshir Dadrawala, Kersi Randeria and Zarir Bhathena — with the politicians. BPP trustee Viraf Mehta was also unaware of the meeting.
"The statements made by an unnamed individual that I came in the lift with (Member of the Legislative Assembly Raj) Purohit, was false and misleading; the meeting had already commenced with Purohit even before I had reached.”
In an email to Tirandaz dated November 20, 2015, Dadrawala claimed that he came half an hour earlier than the designated 5 p.m. for the trustees’ meeting as he had some papers to read and sign. "It is clear as daylight that there was no meeting nor any agenda — hidden or otherwise,” he stated. "Do you genuinely believe there was anything other than pleasantries exchanged at this so-called meeting without agenda?... This matter is a needless storm in a tea cup. Please nip it.”
