BPP: Who decides?

With Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) chairman Dinshaw Mehta being amongst a minority of three on the seven-member board of trustees, his opponents are making it clear they rule the roost. On February 19, 2014, BPP trustee Yazdi Desai sent the following email to BPP senior executive, welfare, Cawas Panthaki who handles much of the secretarial work of the Federation of the Parsi Zoroastrian Anjumans of India (FPZAI), and other office bearers of the all India body.
"As per his normal unhealthy practice, Dinshaw Mehta has unilaterally and arbitrarily called for a meeting of the Defunct Anjuman Committee on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 without consulting his colleague trustees on the board or the office bearers of the FPZAI. And now I understand that today he has again changed the date to February 28 because he has just realized that February 26 is not convenient to him,” wrote Desai.
"I invite your special attention to these three points:
"Please do not go ahead with convening this meeting on February 26 or 28, because it is not convenient to Khojeste, Jimmy and me. Neither have you checked with any of the others for their availability. We will decide a new date after consulting everyone concerned.
"Please make sure that all the vice presidents of all the zones are invited to the meeting as and when convened.
"In future, please do not take instructions only from Dinshaw Mehta alone without taking the concurrence of the other trustees and executive council members because the BPP and the FPZAI are not the personal fiefdom or family trusts of Dinshaw Mehta.
"I trust you will co-operate in doing the right thing.”
