Prayers and party
After the Dae mah jashan of the Shirinbai Cama Convalescent Home in Bandra on Ardibehesht roz, May 17, 2015, in a departure from tradition, refreshments and entertainment were provided outdoors. This initiative of trustee Sam Choksey was a first, as formerly the entertainment had always been indoors. The altered venue proved popular with those present, mentions an email received from Tehemton Adenwalla, a regular user of the Home.

The ceremony, which began at 5.30 p.m. in the sunlit inner corridor of the Home was performed by Ervads Noshirwan Tata, panthaky of the Tata Agiary and Jamasp Tata, and attended by Choksey and his wife Dinaz, Dr Dara Engineer, staff and inmates as well as young boys and girls selected by the Parsee Liaison Committee. Also present were community historian Marzban Giara and religion teacher Ratamai Peer. After the jashan a minute’s silence was observed in memory of the late Roda Bhagwagar who worked in the office of the Home, the email notes.
The gathering then moved outdoors where tables had been set up and the audience was regaled by the famous musical Marazbans — Wadia and Mehta (since deceased) — with Parsi and Bollywood songs.
