Appeal for funds
The new Prayer Hall constructed by The Prayer Hall Trust within the Worli Cemetery Complex on E. Moses Road, (opposite Four Seasons Hotel), should become operational before the end of August 2015. A jashan was held on August 3, and the new Hall was appreciated for its design and aesthetics by all who attended the prayers.
The construction was in no small measure due to the munificent donation of Rs 1.5 crore from the A. H. Wadia Trust which considerably augmented the collection we had started earlier from like-minded Zoroastrians and helped us complete the project in record time.
However, after the construction of a new facility, it is essential to also ensure its maintenance and upkeep. In addition to round-the-clock security, cleaning services and maintenance of gardens, all of which will be outsourced, it is intended that the customary services availed of by members of Parsi-Irani families suffering a bereavement, such as arrangements for a hearse, priests, flowers, death certificates, etc will also be facilitated by us to ease the burden on relatives of the deceased, at a time of pain and loss. For this purpose, a second trust has been set up, viz. The Prayer Hall Services and Maintenance Trust.
Several generous Parsi-Irani Zoroastrians have already contributed to this second Trust and over the next few months we intend to build a respectable corpus close to the amount spent on construction of the new facility, so that the earnings from the corpus are adequate to meet the above requirements.
We appeal to all like-minded persons within the community who see themselves utilizing this facility, at some time in the future, to send us their contributions by cheque/demand draft made out in the name of "The Prayer Hall Services & Maintenance Trust” addressed to The Prayer Hall Services and Maintenance Trust, C-1 Hermes House, Mama Parmanand Marg, Opera House, Bombay 400004.
