Hon doctorate for Mehta

Lion Neville Ardeshir Mehta was conferred an honorary doctorate in social services, honoris causa by Dr Umesh Gautam, chancellor of Invertis University (Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh) at Bombay’s Hotel Trident on May 23, 2015.
Mehta was appointed by Lions International as international secretary, India, South Asia and East Africa in October 2005. From July 2013 he has been holding the additional offices for Africa and the Middle East as well, mentions a write-up received from Hoshang Nekoo.

Neville Mehta: service to Lionism


Inducted into Lionism in 1986, Mehta became president of the Lions Club of Bombay Babulnath in 1989 and was district governor of District 323-A1 in 2003. A progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and certified Quest teacher, he has also published a book on drug abuse awareness. Mehta has received many awards at the Club and District levels, notching up 16 international presidents’ gold medals, seven leadership certificates and seven international presidents’ certificates of appreciation, notes the write-up.
Mehta was the first recipient of the International President Al Brandel’s Ambassador of Goodwill Award in January 2009. In September 2012 he was invited by Sam Pitrodia, advisor to the Prime Minister, Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations, Government of India to join the governing body of the Food Security Foundation of India, a section 25 company set up by India Food Banking Network.
