The Order of Ontario, the province’s highest official honor, was conferred on Dr Dhun Noria by Lieutenant Governor of Ontario Elizabeth Dowdeswell at a ceremony at Queen’s Park in February 2015. Surgical pathologist, Chief of Laboratory Medicine and Medical Director of Laboratories at the Scarborough Hospital, Noria has "built a career on an unwavering commitment to excellence in health care and with significant impact on Ontario’s health care system,” notes the website of The Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade that masterminds this medal and recognition programs.
The Order of Ontario which will mark its 30th anniversary in 2016 "recognizes any current or former long-time resident of Ontario who has demonstrated a high level of individual excellence and achievement in any field benefiting the people of Ontario or anywhere in the world.”

The programs acknowledge outstanding achievements in education, health care, business, science and medicine, community service, the arts, and many other fields. Two programs specifically honor police officers and firefighters for superlative acts of courage and bravery. The awards also recognize good citizenship, volunteer service, young volunteers, student community volunteers, outstanding achievement, senior achievement, senior of the year, leadership in eliminating racial discrimination and leadership in accessibility.
Last year when the Scarborough General Hospital conferred on Noria its Global Lifetime Achievement Award, she became the second person in the Hospital’s history to receive such an honor (see "Honored by the Hospital,” Zoroastrians Abroad, Parsiana, June 21, 2014). Also a member of the Scarborough Walk of Fame, the two times breast cancer survivor was quoted by Scarborough Mirror as stating, "I’ve been blessed to have had so many opportunities to serve communities right here at home and internationally. It is in my blood; it is my passion. The Order of Ontario is a prestigious recognition. However it is the relationships that I have with individuals and with the community that I cherish the most.”
