‘Green’ diesel generators

By Sherene Vakil · October 21, 2014
"Sterling Generators (SG) are in an advantageous position as our product offerings were always most fuel and emission optimized, meeting international emission standards and will need only minor product alterations to meet the new norms in India. The implementation of these norms will certainly help control release of polluting gases into the atmosphere and result in overall healthy living,” said Sanjay Jadhav, president, Sterling and Wilson Powergen Private Limited. He was referring to the new legislation on stringent emission norms which came into effect on July 1, 2014 as per the recently amended Environment Protection Act of the Government of India, as stated in a press release from the company.

Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Limited, one of the largest construction groups in India, entered the power generation industry in 2005 with SG, marketed by Sterling and Wilson Powergen Private Limited. The latter, started by the Daruvala family, is a sister company of Shapoorji Pallonji and Company which holds a 51% stake. The managing director is Khurshed Daruvala. SG soon became one of the country’s leading players in the diesel genset business with its headquarters in Bombay. It strongly believes that the new legislation will help Indian engines to compete with others worldwide. SG has a solutions oriented approach and offers the latest in technology to customers, backed by a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Silvassa. Within nine years of operation the company has four regional hubs and 17 branch offices in India and has also opened offices in Dubai, Nigeria and Australia to focus on the exports market, further adds the press release.
Among its installations are those at Delhi International Airport, Larsen and Toubro, Tata Consultancy Services, CAIRN Energy, Infosys, Siemens, the Tata group, Steel Authority of India Limited and many more.
