Ripon’s report

During the year ending March 31, 2013 the Ripon Club, Bombay made a profit of Rs 75,393, a significant decline from the profit of Rs 1,89,300 during the previous year, 2011-2012. The total investments stood at Rs 84,21,117. Ten members resigned, but the membership increased to 689 as 16 new life members, five resident members and three associate lady members enrolled during the period, revealed the 127th Annual Report and Accounts of the Club for 2012-2013. The two members who passed away during the year were Marazban Dhanbhoora and Arnavaz Mavji.

At the time of publication of the report Rusi Sethna was president, with Sir Dinshaw Petit V Baronet as vice president. The trustees were Sethna, Rohinton Dhalla, Sorab Davar and Mehli Cama. Jamshed Lentin resigned as chairman on September 2, 2013 and the post was filled by honorary treasurer Xerxes Dastur. Keki Daruwalla was honorary secretary, while committee members were Maneck Bodhanwalla, Viraf Chiniwala, Hoshang Hodiwalla and Berjes Shroff. An explanatory note informs that members are eligible to serve on the managing committee only on completion of three years of membership. No associate member, male or female, or lady member is entitled to contest any office or to vote or to attend the meeting in this staunchly male oriented bastion.
