At the Masters National Athletics Championship held in Trivandrum, Kerala from May 10 to 12, 2013, Khurshid Mistry won four gold medals and Rohinton Mehta picked up three golden orbs. Mistry excelled in the 100 m, 200 m, 400 m and 4x100 m relay while Mehta beat the competition in the 800 m, 400 m and 400 m hurdles. Mistry and Mehta qualified for the national meet by virtue of their performance at the Maharashtra State Masters Athletic Meet in Nasik in February.
Jehan Daboo, aged 15, won three bronze medals in badminton (men’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles) at the National Games for the Deaf held at the Sports Authority of India stadium in Aurangabad from April 1 to 5, 2013. Daboo now aims to play for India at the Summer Deaf Olympics to be held in July-August in Sofia, Bulgaria.
