Young Karen Mistry bettered the Maharashtra state record with her timing of 8.5 sec in the 50 m run for girls under eight and Scherezade Contractor achieved the same distinction for the 100 m (15.1 sec) in the girls under 10 at the Jal D. Pardivala All Parsees Annual Athletic Meet on February 1-2, 2003. For their special achievement, the two children were awarded Rs 3,000 each at the meet which was sponsored by the World Zoroastrian Organi­sation, states a press release from the All Parsees Sports Foun­dation.

Running away with the Jal D. Pardivala Trophy for the best athlete of the year was Ayesha Billimoria. As per a report in the Mid-Day of January 24, Billimoria had achieved the distinction of breaking the 100 m and 400 m records at the inter-ICSE schools meet and qualified for the national school athletic championship in Bangalore at the end of January.
Coasting past his competitors at the All Parsees meet was Meher­nosh Bam­boat, the fastest man of the meet while Ayesha Shroff was his feminine counterpart. The Avabai F. Petit Girls’ High School and the Mancherji Edalji Joshi Memorial Trust lifted the women’s and men’s team championship respectively.
