Presenting Parsika Vol 2

A project initiated by the Frohar Foundation, Parsika Volume 2 was launched by chief guest Dastur (Dr) Peshotan Mirza of Iranshah, Udvada at a function organized by the Khareghat Colony Youth Association (KCYA) on the birth anniversary of its founder, the late Paeterasp Patel, September 19, 2012. Author Noshir K. Daboo of Ahmedabad, who was unable to attend the function due to advanced age and physical disability, sent a message on the occasion, as per an email received from Ervad Cyrus Dastoor, KCYA president.

Ervad Asphandiar Dadachanji led a humbandagi and welcomed all, thanking Khushru Patel and members of his family for taking an interest in community service. There has been a demand for Parsika Volume 1 from Nagpur, Surat, Navsari, Bangalore, Poona and Ahmedabad, Dadachanji revealed. Both volumes deal with prayers and spiritualism in Zoroastrianism.
Dastoor presented a shawl to Mirza. KCYA children felicitated all the dignitaries as well as Bakhtavar Shroff (who had assisted in compiling Parsika Volume 2) with garlands and bouquets. BPP trustee Jimmy Mistry spoke on "Developing Entrepreneurship,” offering valuable information for the youth. KCYA announced awards and scholarships for young achievers in memory of Paeterasp, which were presented by Ervad (Dr) Ramiyar Karanjia, Mehta and BPP trustee Khojeste Mistree.
Children of the KCYA’s Dharmagyan class sang monajats, Yazad Elavia played two songs on the electric organ followed by The Super Silvers, senior citizens of Rustom Baug who rendered old Parsi religious songs, the write-up mentions. A hilarious skit, Parsi ni Pori Nakhrakhori directed by Vistasp Gotla evoked laughter. Thea Shroff (karaoke champion of west India zonal finals) and Rushad Dastur (best singer HPY-2012) entertained the crowd with songs. KCYA children performed dances choreographed by Natasha Irani and Naira Daruwalla. On behalf of KCYA, comperes Meron Damania and Sarfaraz Irani thanked all those who have supported the activities of the Colony.
The Association was grateful to Paterasp’s children Jasmine, Khushru and Aspi, for enabling it to carry forward his dream, to the staff of JAK Printers, donors, committee members and volunteer Homi Patel for translating Daboo’s charts into English, Marzban Wadia and Nilufer Kudianawala for training the children to sing monajats, the youthful performers and the appreciative audience. The evening ended with the singing of Chhaiyé Hamé Zarthoshti and the national anthem, after which copies of Parsika Volume 2 were distributed to all, along with refreshments.
