Subsidized dialysis

The Lowjee Wadia Dispensary Trust has installed the latest German Fresenius Medicare 4008H kidney dialysis machine at the M. H. Saboo Siddique M and G Hospital and Muslim Ambulance Society Diagnostic Centre on Mohammed Ali Road in Bombay. At the formal inauguration of the unit on October 24, 2012 Trust chairman Kersi Limathwalla announced that under an arrangement with these institutions dialysis and other facilities would be available at highly subsidized rates to patients recommended by them, mentions a write-up received by Parsiana.
The average cost of a single dialysis in Bombay is around Rs 1,000, and a patient has to undergo around eight to 12 sessions a month. Dialysis will now be made available to deserving patients for just Rs 200 a turn, and in needy cases a further concession will be considered. The tubing and dialyer equipment which cost around Rs 1,000 and which need to be changed periodically will be provided free of cost.
Costly injections for hemoglobin and iron necessary for all dialysis patients will also be subsidized, and expensive blood tests which need to be done regularly offered at concessional rates, notes the write-up. The Centre, with one of the largest kidney dialysis facilities, does an average of 1,500 sessions in a month. It has separate facilities for Hepatitis B and C patients, which are not available at all places.
The Centre has complement of 14 technicians, three nurses, seven attendants, working under two nephrologists and a resident medical officer. The latest facilities for radiology, sonography, pathology, dental treatment, obstetrics and gynecology, CT scan, MRI and physiotherapy are housed here. All these services will soon be available at subsidized cost, notes the write-up.
The Trust is grateful to Soonoo and Vispi Engineer for partly funding the unit. Deserving patients who wish to avail the facilities may contact Tehemton Karma on mob: 9619068162 between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
