Maestro Mistry
Died: Dr Aban Eruchshaw Mistry (72), noted vadika (tabla player), in Bombay on September 30, 2012 of multiple organ failure.
Mistry co-founded the Swar Sadhna Samiti with her guru Pt. Keki Jijina. Her considerable contribution to the field of Indian classical music was featured in "Without missing a beat” (Parsiana, October 7, 2012). Mistry authored Pakhawaj and Tabla — History, Schools and Traditions and another book titled The Parsis and Indian Classical Music (see "Messiahs of music,” Parsiana, November 2004).

A condolence meeting was held by her pupils and admirers at a hall in Tardeo, Bombay on October 6, 2012, Rupa Sethna, her disciple, caretaker and friend informed Parsiana. Jitendra Zaveri, president of the Samiti noted that several respected artistes from the Indian classical music and dance community shared their memories of Mistry at the meeting. Pt Omkar Gulvady who has been associated with the Samiti for 25 years and Kedar Narayan Bodas also offered a musical shraddhanjali (tribute).
