WZO India’s services
For over a decade World Zoroastrian Organisation (WZO) India, which severed ties with WZO, UK in 2010 over criteria for membership, has been conducting various programs to ameliorate the lot of less fortunate members of the community. Committee member and active social worker Soonoo Andhyarujina has sent information to Parsiana about WZO India’s activities during the last year: organizing medical check-up camps in various baugs and colonies; distributing household items to inmates of widows’ chawls and old age homes; offering medical and educational grants to the poor and interest free loans for higher education. They have also held gahanbars for the underprivileged, organized low budget trips to Della Adventure in Lonavala, Rajasthan and Panchgani as well as felicitations for outstanding sports persons.

Crediting the Organisation’s president Rusi Bhumgara who "makes it a point to attend all service projects,” Andhyarujina further mentions that he is ably supported by his committee members. WZO India is firm in the belief that if the organization remains busy in the service of humanity, there will be no time to indulge in politics or criticize others, ills which are so common in the community these days. To this end, they have appealed to members of the community to come forward with suggestions for activities that will ease the lot of deserving Zarthoshtis.
