Nariman for President

"Political parties should cut across party lines and elect (Fali) Nariman as the next President of India” as he is a person of "great eminence, caliber, integrity and knowledge,” was the view expressed by the Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF), in the context of the presidential poll to be conducted in July, reported The Times of India (TOI) on May 22, 2012. The SILF, established in 2000, is a countrywide constituent body of 100 law firms and the apex representative body for corporate and litigation law firms, as per information available on the internet.

Fali Nariman: expert on constitution

Lalit Bhasin, SILF president, elaborated, "He has also held positions at the national and international level which have brought laurels to our country. He has also been a distinguished Member of Parliament. (The) President is the constitutional head of the country and no one knows the Constitution and its working better than Fali Nariman.”
Bhasin, however, clarified that he had not spoken to Nariman or taken his consent before making this proposal of the SILF public, noted TOI.
