Second term for Sorabjee
Soli J. Sorabjee, former attorney general of India, was unanimously selected president of the India International Centre (IIC) for six years, commencing January 1, 2012. The board of trustees of the prestigious institution met on December 17, 2011 and reached a consensus on the appointment of the leading jurist, reported The Times of India on the following day.
This is Sorabjee’s second innings as IIC president. His first term was from January 2002 till December 2006. He has now taken over from Prof M. G. K. Menon.

Soli Sorabjee: unanimous choice
The IIC is a non-government institution where statesmen, diplomats, policy makers, intellectuals, scientists, jurists, writers, artists and members of civil society meet to initiate the exchange of new ideas and knowledge in the spirit of international cooperation, as per information available on its website. The Centre’s dedication to the values of liberal humanism is best reflected in its activities which include lectures, international and national conferences, seminars, panel discussions and a variety of cultural events like music, cinema, performing and visual arts, both classical and folk. Entry is not restricted to members as all programs are open to the public. Apart from the programs division, the IIC also has a publications division and a library.
