Floodlit fun
The Ahmedabad Parsi Gymkhana grounds on the banks of the river Sabarmati witnessed a floodlit volleyball tourney on May 5, 2012 organized by the Parsee Youth League of Ahmedabad (PYLA). The PYLA have now named their annual volleyball trophy the Jimmy Muglai Cup in memory of the well-known body builder who passed away recently. Muglai had won the Mr Gujarat bodybuilding title seven times. He was also a keen volleyball player who had won many tournaments for his Sanatorium team in the past. Following in the footsteps of their father, his sons Freddy and Burzis are also strong players who have contributed to team victories in the last decade, states a write-up from PYLA.

The Reds with Jimmy Muglai Cup; runners-up Sagas team
The top two teams were the Sagas and the Reds who won all their round robin matches, which were all of one set and 25 points. The final was a best-of-three setter which ended past one o’clock at night. Winning a set apiece, the last set was won by the defending champions, the Reds with a 25-22 score. The Best Player medal was presented to Meherzad Hansotia, who captained the runner-up squad. Bomi Sethna led the winning team. Zenobia Contractor was proclaimed the Most Promising Youngster. Contractor and Delnaz Jokhi of the Legends A team were the only two female players in the tournament.
"Both the Legends teams, which consisted of past veterans and almost all above 40 years of age, gave a good show and both the teams won at least one match each,” state the organizers. The Young Guns, captained by Bergis Sethna, were the newest team this year. Freddy and Burzis Muglai did not participate this year due to their father’s recent demise but have promised to do so next year and "will field their successful and multiple title-winning Sanatorium team in a bid to capture the Cup,” notes a write-up forwarded by Ariz Bokdawalla, PYLA general secretary. This annual event has been hosted by the PYLA for the last 30 years.
