Volleying fitness

Forty youngsters in the age group 10-18 years participated in the summer vacation coaching camp for volleyball in May this year. Sponsored by the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP), the camp was organized and conducted by the Sir Cowasjee Jehangir Colony Recreation Centre at Tardeo. Held four days a week for two hours in the morning, professional coaches fine tuned the art of blocking, lifting, spiking, smashing the volleyball and emphasized the importance of fitness.
The BPP sponsored all expenses for the maintenance of the court, groundsmen, equipment, coaches fees, as well as cups and certificates and monogrammed T-shirts for the participants. The Recreation Centre, despite limited funds, bore the costs of soft drinks/tea for participants, coaches, organizers and volunteers. Dara Doomasia, the BPP’s chief sports coordinator, distributed the certificates at the end of the camp.
