Accommodation in Surat

I am a PhD student in the Department of History at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, USA and working on a thesis on the merchant communities of Gujarat. I am about to embark on two or three months of intensive field research, including interviews and site visits in Surat starting January 2012. I am having a difficult time finding affordable accommodation and wonder if readers of Parsiana might know of families who are willing to rent out suitable accommodation in Surat.
