Creative collaboration
Fitness trainer and artist Nawaz Modi Singhania has teamed up with luxury jewelry designer Poonam Soni to launch a new brand, S2. The artistic duo will launch their joint-design distinct brand of jewelry in 2011 with the "Born Free” series. In an e-mail sent to Parsiana, Magline Rufina of Raymond India states that with their common love for art the two have made stylish pieces "for women who have an eye for art jewelry.” The versatile pieces are described in the write-up as "perfect for a woman who looks for statement pieces for that art afternoon or an informal cocktail evening!”

The collection is in the form of innovative sautoirs (a French concept denoting a ribbon, chain, scarf, or the like piece of jewelry, that is tied around the neck). These are "treated as stylish, yet casual neck pieces using a mixed medium of silver, gold antique rose cuts with precious gems.” Inspired by Bohemian styling, unusual stones are used in combination with gems and leather to create multi medium pieces in which the material is used to display a "blend of the enamoring ancient with the trendy modern.” The brand represents a balancing of "ancient Indian craftsmanship in patchi style motifs, weaving them around a modern concept.”
Perhaps more unique than the pieces themselves is the way they’ve been showcased. The jewelry is displayed around miniature oil paintings by Singhania. The concept of the artworks, "movement and speed,” express her love for dance and fitness. The paintings are "all in vibrant hues glorifying the woman especially and reflecting her buoyant nature.”
The new line represents "a coming together of two very creative people” and very diverse materials to create a fashion statement at a surprisingly affordable price, the write-up states.
