GR8! honor for Garg

The GR8! Women Special Mention Award for 2011 was conferred on Alice Garg at the 10th Annual Kelvinator GR8! Women Awards 2011 function organized by Anu and Shashi Ranjan, editor and publisher of the Indian Television Academy’s GR8! Magazine. The mega event was held at the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon on February 7, 2011 where awards were given to women achievers from various fields in about 31 different categories, as per information available on the Internet.

Alice Garg: empowering women

Garg was recognized for her social work, especially empowerment in rural areas, reports Insight, The Consumer Magazine in its issue of March-April 2011. A trustee of the Consumer Education Research Centre and secretary of the Bal Rashmi Society, Garg has been braving odds to obtain justice for oppressed women. The resident of Rajas­than is credited with exposing cases of sexual exploitation of women in that state, including the infamous gang rape of Bhanwari Devi a few years ago.
