WIT: winning for women
The Godfrey Phillips National Bravery Amodini Award for 2010 was bestowed on Women’s India Trust (WIT). On November 11, 2010 Justice Leila Seth presented the award to Dolat Kotwal, chairman, WIT at the Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi. The award comprises a gold medal, a citation and a cash component of two lakh rupees, as per an e-mail received from WIT by Parsiana.

For the past 20 years the Godfrey Phillips Bravery Awards have highlighted the uncommon spirit of the common man and afforded recognition to extraordinary yet little known facts of physical valor, social service and humanitarian deeds, the e-mail mentions. The Amodini Award was instituted two years ago to recognize individuals and women’s organizations striving to improve the status of women, socially and economically. WIT was chosen for the award after a selection process at the state, zonal and national levels with separate juries at each level. "Amodini,” which translates into happiness for women and the importance given to women’s participation in national progress, reinforces the pioneering efforts of WIT’s late founder-chairman Kamila Tyabji who passed away six years ago, the e-mail notes.
