Sir Hormusji honored
The Bombay Parsee Association (BPA) honored the memory of Sir Hormusji Cowasjee Dinshaw (Adenwalla) on the morning of his 154th birth anniversary, April 4, 2011 at his statue on Veer Nariman Road in Bombay. Vispi S. Dastur, BPA president mentioned that this was the first time after the demise of Seth Cowasjee Dinshaw (Sir Hormusji’s grandson) that they were paying homage to Sir Hormusji and requested those present to stand in solemn silence for one minute in memory of the deceased. He then garlanded Sir Hormusji’s statue, as per a write-up sent by BPA.

Speaking of Sir Hormusji’s life and achievements, Dastur mentioned that he was founder patron of the BPA and founder president of the Iran League. His great-grandson Saroosh Dinshaw recalled how the family had established the business in the port of Aden and helped Mahatma Gandhi. Homai Modi, vice president, Navsari Parsee Association, Cmde (retd) Aspi Marker of the Indian Navy, Adi Mehta, president FOZAWAC (Federation of Zoroastrian Associations for Welfare and Culture) and community historian Marzban Giara also spoke on the occasion, notes the write-up.
Floral tributes were offered by the Iran league, Cowasjee Dinshaw Trust, Navsari Parsee Association, Bombay Jashan Committee, Youths Own Union, Bombay Municipal Corporation and Yazdi Desai, Bombay Parsi Punchayet trustee. Also present on the occasion were Freny Adi Jehangir, great granddaughter of Sir Hormusji, Nyrika Mehta, his great, great, great-granddaughter, Adale Patel, Aloo Shroff, Tehmina Peer, Rusi and Gev Bhumgara, Parveen Sidhwa, Dara Challa and Homiyar Sherdiwalla, the write-up mentions.
