Homage to Hormusji

Homage was paid to Sir Hormusji Cowasjee Dinshaw Adenwalla on April 4, 2007, his 150th birth anniversary, by the Bombay Parsee Association (BPA). Vispi S. Dastur, BPA president garlanded Adenwalla’s statue at Veer Nariman Road, near Bhikha Behram Well, in Bombay. Chief guest Cowasji Dinshaw, Adenwalla’s grandson, spoke of how the family had established businesses and helped Mahatma Gandhi. Others who spoke included Hormusji’s great-grandson Jehangir Patel, Homai Modi, Godrej Dotivala, Marzban Giara and Ratamai Peer.



Bombay Parsee Association honoring Adenwalla on his 150th birth anniversary


Dastur narrated highlights of Adenwalla’s life and achievements. He had been a founder patron of the BPA, founder president of the Iran League and president of Bombay Jashan Committee. A trustee of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet, Adenwalla was also president of the Aden and Lonavala Parsi Panchayats. He established several agiaries, dispensaries, schools and charities in India, Aden and elsewhere in the world.
Floral tributes were also offered on behalf of the Iran League, Cowasjee Dinshaw Trust, Navsari Parsee Association and the Municipal Corporation of Greater Bombay.
