Wadia Adaran’s salgirah

The Malcolm Baug Zoroastrian Association (MBZA) recently celebrated the 147th salgirah of the original consecration of the holy fire of the Bai Motlibai Wadia Adaran at Pitha Street and the 44th salgirah of its re-enthronement inside Malcolm Baug. On the evening of May 2, 2010, 12 priests led by Ervad Framroze Dadi Vatcha performed a jashan. Later the children of the colony performed a number of dances while the Darling Orchestra regaled the audience with old songs, as per a write-up received by Parsiana from Framroze M. Gotla, MBZA trustee.

Bomi Bacha, president of MBZA welcomed the guests and briefly related facts about the functioning of the Adaran which is managed by the MBZA. The Association, which was established on March 21, 1929, is a registered charitable trust. Justice Shahrukh Kathawalla and his sister Mahrukh Noble were felicitated on the occasion, as were the four full-time priests of the Adaran along with supporting senior mobeds, Adaran staff, Malcolm Hall manager and staff, the write-up notes.
The All India Directory of Parsi Institutions written by community historian Marzban Giara and published by the N. M. Wadia Charities was released by Kathawalla in the presence of Homi S. Talati, managing trustee of MBZA and Khushroo Panthaki, trustee, N. M. Wadia Charities.
Over 600 guests, including those from Malcolm Baug as well as Zoroastrians residing in nearby buildings were treated to a sumptuous dinner hosted by the Kathawalla family. The evening ended with the singing of Chhaiyé Hamé Zarthoshti and the national anthem.
