Bombay boy Noshir Sorab Engineer won the second prize in the Zarthoshti Fasali Sal Mandal Fund’s essay competition organized by the K. R. Cama Oriental Institute (KRCOI) and received a certificate and cash award at the KRCOI’s Dr Sir J. J. Modi Memorial Hall on March 26, 2010. Engineer, a student of the Cathedral and John Connon High School is at present appearing for his school leaving Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) board exams, informs his father in a write-up sent to Parsiana.

Noshir Engineer: creativity awarded

Last year Engineer received a certificate of merit for creative writing from the UK-based Young Writers’ organization, and his piece was selected for publication in an anthology in 2009, according to the write-up. Young Writers was established in 1991 to encourage the reading and writing of poetry by young people, reveals its website. Young Writers’ books nurture interest and confidence by giving young people the opportunity to see their work in print in a series of regional anthologies. The certificate, signed by Kate Gibbard, manager of Young Writers, mentions that Engineer "has written a creative piece of distinction that was selected for publication in a Young Writers’ anthology.”
