“Constant disagreements”
Noshir Dadrawala’s article in Jam-e-Jamshed Weekly of February 21, 2010 was an eye-opener for people like me who were not aware of the actual facts before jumping the gun! I had called his disagreements and dissent with the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) board "offensive” in my letter "Constant disagreements” (Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, September 21, 2009). But when I read his detailed explanation, it was apparent that he was absolutely right and within his powers as a trustee to ask for information. In fact I would say such a voice should never be stifled, especially when the law of our land has given us the Right to Information Act.
Why should the BPP withhold any matter concerning the board to a sitting trustee? Where is the need to hide, after they promised to be a very transparent body in their manifestos? Dadrawala is within his rights to ask for and be given all the information he demands. And if this is not available to him, because of the trust reposed in him by those who voted for him, the law is the only recourse left to him.
