Ervad Rooyintan Mehenty: record for rituals

Nine-year-old Mehenty has also made news for having performed the complicated 19-day geti kharid ritual at the Wadiaji Atash Behram from April 24 to May 10, 2013. This ritual was conducted at the Atash Behram after a gap of 37 years! His nahn lasted nine days and the ijashne and visparad ceremonies took 10 days. So far Mehenty has performed over 50 ijashne ceremonies at the Atash Behram free of charge. The lad has also to his credit two vendidad ceremonies at Surat’s Modi Atash Behram.
Having been initiated as a navar at the early age of eight and a maratab during the following year, Mehenty has now joined the Cama Athornan Madressa in Andheri where he is undertaking further studies with principal Ervad Khushroo Panthaky and Ervad Farokh Turel training him for religious ceremonies. The youngster has been felicitated by the Rustom Baug Association and the Winter Relief Fund and has received special awards from the World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarthoshtis.
