Jhansi Anjuman

Jhansi, a small town in Uttar Pradesh, has a Dharamshala in Sipri Bazar Main Market and a Parsi Aramgah in the Cantonment area. The latter, which is 130 years old, has the graves of about 350 Parsis. Since the last 20 years or so the Jhansi Parsi Anjuman has been keeping the Aramgah neat and clean. We have a jashan ceremony there on Fravardin mah, Fravardin roz every year and on the following day a jashan is performed at the Parsi Dharamshala (Jehangir Baug) on Behram roz. Some families have jashans performed at their residence as well. Ervad Rumi Panthaky comes and performs the jashan ceremonies. He also comes to Jhansi to perform navjotes and conduct death ceremonies.
The Anjumans of Jhansi, Kanpur and Delhi have jashan ceremonies at the Aramgah only on Fravardin roz. A website prepared by Firoz K. Pestonji of Jhansi, now a resident of Australia, provides further details about the older residents and Anjuman members.
