“Fightback” campaign

Following the shameful incident of molestation of some young women outside a five star hotel in Bombay’s posh Juhu area on the morning of January 1, 2008, Zubin Driver, an enthusiastic 37-year-old advertising professional informed the Hindustan Times (HT) on January 9, 2008 that he would be launching a "Fightback” campaign against this social evil. Driver, who is the Network Creative Director of Television 18, told HT that he will begin the campaign by launching a website, www.fight-back.net, followed by a nationwide contest that will call youngsters to create plays or short films on the problem to seek a possible solution.
"Ages ago, when I was acting in a play in college with an all-female cast, I found that each one of those women had been molested,” Driver told HT. He plans a poster campaign on the Juhu molestation issue to be displayed in colleges across the city. When incidents like this occur they follow a pattern, he had noticed. "It makes front page news, the stakeholders come into the picture and all this goes on for two or three weeks before it goes ‘poof.’ It is a cycle that then begins again with the next victim while the previous one is forgotten,” Driver said. There is need for a tool to break this cycle and "engineer some systemic changes,” he feels. And he is working toward that end with his "Fightback” campaign.
