The chosen ones
The seven new trustees of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) were chosen for their impressive track record of community service, not for empty words and free dinners. The community salutes them on their hard fought and well-deserved victory despite all the mudslinging and false propaganda.
The chosen seven are the new face of the BPP. On them rest the hopes for a better tomorrow. May harmony prevail and let bygones be bygones. May they usher in an era of peace and prosperity and take the BPP to its prestigious position of glory enjoyed in the past, with the good wishes and support of the community.
And a big pat on the back to the aspiring also-rans!
The first ever BPP elections based on universal adult franchise has showcased a whole lot of young, energetic community do-gooders who can be our future akabars. It is wonderful to know that there is so much hidden talent waiting to be tapped. It needed courage to venture into the battleground of Parsi politics with the odds stacked against them. The community needs them as much as it needs the trustees, so they must keep up the good work. One does not have to be a trustee to serve needy and suffering humanity. They must offer their services and a helping hand to the trustees, who need it. Much needs to be done and a rewarding future awaits them.
