Concert in Calcutta
Calcutta’s Parsi Zoroastrian Association (PZA) began its activities in the new year on January 12, 2008 with a function at the Ervad Mehta Atash Adaran Hall at which Jamshed Kotwal sang comic, hilarious songs from his latest album titled Rangilo Parsi, Chhabilo Parsi. The noted Parsi singer from Bombay also regaled the large gathering with some Hindi songs interspersed with jokes, as per a write-up forwarded to Parsiana by Burjor F. Modi, president of the PZA.

Senior trustee of the Atash Adaran Noshir Tankariwala graced the occasion which started with a humbandagi and a brief introduction of Kotwal by Modi. Kotwal, a self-employed income tax accountant was born in Navsari in an athornan family. A navar and maratab, he often performs jashan ceremonies at various Zoroastrian religious centers. Music is his hobby and in Bombay he leads a small orchestra under the banner of "Medley Melodies.” In all, Kotwal has released three musical albums which have been well received, Modi informs in his write-up.
Bachoo Parakh presented Kotwal with a bouquet of flowers and a gift in appreciation of his excellent performance while Viroo Medhora proposed a vote of thanks. The evening of mirth and merriment ended with a contributory dinner catered by Ervad Soli Kotwal, panthaky of the Atash Adaran.
