CD of Parsi garbas

"Music is my love, music is my life, music is my medicine,” stated Jamshed Kotwal at the release of his latest audio CD titled Garbe Ghume Parsi at the Sir J. J. School in Bombay on January 23, 2014. Present at the launch were Shernaaz Engineer, editor of Jam-e-Jamshed Weekly, Anahita Desai, chief executive officer of World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarthoshtis, Maharukh Jasawala, educationist, and Ervad Parvez Bajan, panthaky of the Mewawala Agiary at Byculla, mentions a write-up sent by Kotwal.
Addressing the gathering Bajan stressed the importance of the Gujarati language as our mother tongue and commended Kotwal for his efforts in preserving Parsi culture. Kotwal’s CD comprises 13 Parsi garbas such as Aaye Angreji Band Kya Vaage Chhe, Ghoomre Ghanti Ghum, Rangili Darjan, Baar Varasni Kanya, among others. The music is by Kotwal in collaboration with Rumi Baria who has also done the recording at Jehangir Studio in Navsari. Mani Mullan and Sanober Reporter are the singers.
The project was supported by the World Zoroastrian Organisation Trust Funds. Priced at Rs 150, the CD is available at Faredoon and Burjor, Zoroastrian Studies and the Faramji Edulji Sukhadwalla shop near Banaji Atash Behram. Kotwal’s earlier albums include Amé Parsi Amé Great, Rangilo Parsi Chhabilo Parsi, Mangamti Monajat and Geeto Garvi Gujaratna. He may be contacted over the telephone at 9892110325.
