Saronda statement
I am a trustee of Saronda Parsi Jarthoshti Anjuman and had attended the Federation of Parsi Zoroastrian Anjumans of India’s General Meeting held in Bombay on September 23-24, 2006.
In your article on the meeting printed in Parsiana, January 7, 2007, my statement has been wrongly printed. I did not say that there are no youths in Saronda. I only spoke about the land adjacent to Saronda Agiary which has been purchased by the Anjuman to stop anybody outside the Parsi community from buying it. We also needed to build a house for our mobed. I only supported Farrokh Govadia of Nargol when he said that there are no youths, which means that the youths of Nargol and Saronda do not stay permanently in their villages as they have settled in other cities in India and abroad for better prospects. But they do take interest in the well-being of their village and do visit during weekends and on holidays, though they are so busy that they are unable to participate in all the activities.
