Twin cities gahambar
For the first time in the 76-year-old history of the Zoroastrian Club a gahambar was hosted for the entire Parsi Zoroastrian community of the twin cities of Secunderabad and Hyderabad on June 4, 2006, according to a report of the function by president Ervad Kerfegar Antia.

Bharucha: thought provoking
The evening celebrations commenced with the Maidyarem gahambar jashan performed by the mobeds of all the three agiaries of the twin cities. After partak-ing of the chasni, and the personal welcome from Lt Col Aspi Eduljee, the honorary secretary of the Club and other committee members, the congregation proceeded to the beautifully decorated and illuminated pandal for the ensuing program.
Antia briefed the gathering on the origin of the gahambars and later Ervad Mehernosh Bharucha, panthaky of the Bai M. N. Chenoy Agiary, Hyderabad gave a thought-provoking talk on "Proud to be a Zoroastrian." He referred to the difficulties
faced by our forefathers after the downfall of the Sasanian empire and how after considerable privations the minuscule community has prospered in India and given so much to the country in all fields. Goolbanoo Chenoy, president of the Parsi Zoroastrian Anjuman of Secunderabad and Hyderabad, then presented a memento to Bharucha on behalf of the Club, adds the write-up.
The highlight of the evening was the delicious gahambar dinner, painstakingly prepared by Abad W adia and his family. Non-Parsi spouses though were not allowed to join in the dinner which led to a protest from Padmini Patell (see "Perhaps a rethink," pg 16).
