Traditional divisions
Thank you for a balanced coverage of the recent events connected to Traditional Zarathushtris Mailing List (TZML) and the formation of Traditional MazdaYasni Zarathushtis ("TZML adrift” and "Divide and multiply,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, February 21 and March 7, 2006).
We at TZML are pleased that Porus Havewala sees the wisdom of having more than one traditional mailing list to make the community more staunch and traditional. While we agree to most of what Havewala has expressed, there is one important correction which we wish to point out.
On the issue of ownership of TZML, Havewala says that "Co-owners are appointed by mailing list owners for emergency purposes when the owner is not online for a long time.” There is a slight misunderstanding here.
Whenever Havewala used to be absent in the past, the TZML officials used to manage the operations, but without anyone being actually made a co-owner. No TZML official was ever made co-owner before. It was the first time in TZML history that a co-owner was actually created in September 2005. Havewala not only made me the co-owner, but also congratulated me on my appointment on what he regarded as an auspicious day, September 27, 2005 (the hamkar day of Adar roz and Ardibehest mah). This was followed by correspondence between Havewala and me where we mutually agreed to inform the then TZML board members about this conferment when Havewala would return from his leave.
I wish TMYZ and its officials the very best in defending our ancient religion and its traditional practices.
