ZAV amendment

The Zoroastrian Association of Victoria proposes to amend clause 23 of its constitution. In line with the Model Rules enforced in the area, the Association is required to clarify three matters pertaining to the code of conduct, notes their newsletter Rathaeshtar of June 2005.
Specifically dealing with the issue of conflict resolution where the ZAV procedures had restricted the invocation of the Model Rules only to conflicts arising between a member and the committee, it has now had to alter the rules to also include conflicts "between members if in the majority opinion of the committee of the day, the conflict has arisen as a direct result of some ZAV activity, but not for disputes of a private/personal nature.
"If however the conflict is not resolved according to the rules, the parties may seek to resolve the conflict in accordance with the Act otherwise at law. The aggrieved parties are at liberty to appoint legal advisors at their own cost.
"Reference to members holding their own functions do not cover personal or private functions, but only to functions involving issues of community interest.”
