“Seeking a blessing”
This has reference to N. Madon’s query ("Seeking a blessing,” Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, June 21, 2005). Our prayer Kerfeh Mozd from the Sarosh Baj would constitute a blessing.
The prayer and translation appears below: Kerfeh Mozd, gunah gujareshnera, kunam ashahi raven dusharamra ham kerfeh ham a vehane haft-keshvarzamin, zamin-pahana, rud-darana, khorshid-bala, bundehad be-resad; sho bed der-zi, Atha Jamyat yatha afrimani. Ashem Vohu. It means: To gain the reward of good deeds and to win forgiveness for my misdeeds, I perform righteous acts for the love of my soul. May all good deeds of all good men throughout the seven spheres, get their share of blessings wide as the earth, extensive as the rivers, exalted as the Sun. May thou be righteous and long lived. May it come about as I entreat.
