In memoriam

The Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) had afringan prayers performed in memory of those who perished in the dastardly terrorist attack in Bombay on November 26, 2008. During the ceremony, held at the Banaji Atash Behram on January 14, 2009, priests intoned the names of Farokh Dinshaw, Kaizad Kamdin and Rohinton Maloo, Zoroastrians who became victims of the carnage in the prime of their lives, as per a press release issued by BPP chairman Dinshaw Mehta.

A vast congregation crowded the hall inside the Atash Behram that evening. Along with chairman Mehta, co-trustees Khojeste Mistree, Rustom Tirandaz, Arnavaz Mistry and Yazdi Desai represented the BPP. Also present were High Priest of the Anjuman Atash Behram Dastur (Dr) Kaikhusroo JamaspAsa and managing trustee of the Banaji Atash Behram Burjor Antia, as well as family members of the departed souls, mentions a write-up by BPP public relations officer Godrej Dotivala.
After the ceremony Khojeste Mistree said that it was in the fitness of things that the Parsi community should mourn all those who lost their lives to the bullets of the inhuman terrorists who held the city to ransom. Tirandaz suggested that a memorial column be erected for the innocent victims of terror, while Arnavaz Mistry prayed that the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace and that the Almighty give their near and dear ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
