“Bridging the fourth...”
We refer to your Editorial Viewpoint ("Bridging the fourth dimension,” Parsiana, April 2005) on the matter of formation of the world body where it has been mentioned "With the Punchayets of Bombay, Delhi, Calcutta, Madras, Allahabad, Thana and others on one side and Poona, Hyderabad-Secunderabad, Ahmedabad, Bardoli, Dahanu, Vyara Songadh and the like on the other, the once tranquil and harmonious functioning of the Federation is shattered.”
We would like to reiterate that the Parsi Zoroastrian Anjuman of Secunderabad and Hyderabad (PZASH) has not objected per se to the formation of the world body and thus it is incorrect on your part to say that we "are on one side.” We are of the view that there should be total transparency in the language of the formation of the world body. PZASH has always taken balanced views on every issue of our community. Our stand has remained that issues like the formation of the world body should be sorted out by discussions and consensus. However, we feel that if the formation of a world body were to split the Federation and the community, it would be wiser to let things remain as they are for the time being till tempers cool down and peace prevails at Federation meetings. Any actions taken should be for the advancement of the community and not for its division and destruction. Our community has more urgent matters in hand to tackle like the falling population, care of the elderly, education, social security, defunct anjuman properties, etc and the issue of the formation of the world body could be kept in abeyance for the time being till a consensus evolves.
