Film on Zoroastrianism
Tenaz Dubash, who had shot In the Footsteps of our Forefathers, had been hugely applauded at the Seventh World Zoroastrian Congress in Houston. Footsteps had been based on the journey of a group of North American Zarathushtis to Iran in search of their roots.
Dubash now writes that she has been working on a film on Zoroastrianism over the past year and a half. The project fiscally sponsored by ZAGBA (Zoroastrian Association of the Greater Boston Area) has made a significant breakthrough with WGBH, the PBS TV station in Boston with 120 million national viewers, expressing an interest in viewing the final project and airing it. Their interest, writes Dubash, has been roused by a trailer of the projected film that she had submitted to them.
"We are trying to capitalize on this wonderful opportunity and are looking for corporate and individual sponsors,” notes Dubash promising that all donors will be recognized at a fund-raiser in New York City on February 5, 2005 apart from the credits at the end of the film. The fund-raiser will include a Parsi natak, the screening of Footsteps as well as the trailer of the new film, she writes. "We hope to raise $35,000 (by) February 5. If accepted into the LINCS program, WGBH will match this dollar amount with ‘in kind contributions’ and we will send the project to ITVS for completion funding.” Dubash can be contacted on: TDubash@aol.com
