“The dedicated doctor”

Reading Dr B. Meherhomji’s obituary ("In Memoriam,” Parsiana, January 2004) I would like to point out that he was not a student of the Boys’ Town School. He was a student of the New Parsi Boarding High School at Nasik which was run by F. H. Dastur and his wife. (The School was later bought over from Dastur by P. N. Mehta and renamed The Boys’ Town Public School — Editor).

I was a boarder in the New Parsi Boarding High School from 1933 to 1943. I was three years junior to Meherhomji. I was there when a cricket match was played. We played against a government school and Meherhomji as captain scored a century.
We won the match and our principal sent the whole team — all expenses paid — to Bombay to see a test match which was being played at Brabourne Stadium.
