Credit to the cadet

Being adjudged the second best junior NCC (National Cadet Corps) cadet in India in 2004, Percy Hervez Bharucha was presented the Governor’s Medal at Raj Bhavan, Gandhinagar on February 4, 2004 by governor Kailashpati Mishra, according to information forwarded to Parsiana by Porus Karanjawalla of Ahmedabad.
Studying in Std IX at St Xavier’s Loyola High School, Bharucha was the only junior cadet selected from Ahmedabad for the national level. In fact he represented Gujarat as the junior division best cadet. He participated in several competitions and events like general knowledge test, personality and aptitude test, service subjects test, first aid, firing competition, word of command, line area and national integration awareness presentation to earn the second rank at the All India NCC Republic Day Camp 2004 in New Delhi. It is after a decade that a junior division NCC cadet from Gujarat has received this honor, writes Karanjawalla.

Bharucha: positive attitude

This year 92 cadets, of whom 13 were juniors, were selected to represent Gujarat in the Republic Day Camp 2004 and Prime Minister’s Rally in Delhi from December 31, 2003 to January 30, 2004. These 92 cadets were chosen from amongst 53,000 NCC cadets. According to Bharucha, if a school wishes to progress and cultivate ideal citizens, NCC should be made compulsory. Although his stint with the NCC would put him in an advatageous position for a career in the armed forces, Bharucha wants to pursue software engineering. Besides faith in God and one’s own religion he values strong family support, planned hard work, a positive attitude and an iron will.
