Track record
Off the blocks at veteran athletic meets over the past 14 years, Calcutta’s Pro-chy N. Mehta (see "Veterans all,” Sports, Parsiana, February 2001) was at the forefront of medal winners at the 17th Sri Lanka Veterans International Athletic Championship held in Colombo on January 10-11, 2003. Her four golds secured her two overall trophies — champion of the meet and best female athlete, notes a write-up forwarded from Calcutta.

Mehta: continuing winning runs
In the women 45-49 age group, Mehta sprinted 100 m in 14.8 sec, 200 m in 31 sec and the longer 400 m in 1.13.3 sec to achieve three golden orbs. Her long jump of 3.85 m also carried her to first place.
Reporting on the championship on January 12 a Sri Lanka newspaper noted: "Prochy who holds the record in the 400 m made in Jakarta in 1996 said she was happy about her performances. She played hockey and basketball at national level but after the children grew up took to athletics.”
